On May 27, 2020, the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention (CDC) released a significant amount of information for employers to protect workers and clients from COVID-19 exposure in the workplace while keeping it safe and healthy. This information includes:

  • CDC Interim Guidance for Businesses and Employers with guidelines and recommendations that all employers can use to protect their workers and clients.
  • Guides to ensure a building is ready for occupancy before resuming its business operations (ventilation, circulation, mold growth, pests, and stagnant water issues).
  • Hazard assessments to identify where and how workers might be subject to workplace exposure.
  • Hazard control hierarchy to reduce transmission among workers (engineering and administrative controls) to isolate workers from the hazard and change the way people work.

The CDC also recommends that employees and supervisors get education about steps they can take to protect themselves at work and necessary actions to maintain a healthy work environment for all.
